우리는 종종 ‘정답’이 존재하는 사회 속에서 살아간다. 교육, 일, 인간관계, 심지어 취향과 미의 기준까지도 일정한 틀 속에서 평가되고, 사람들은 그 기준에 맞추기 위해 스스로를 조정한다. 그러나 사고한다는 것은 그 틀의 존재를 자각하고, 그것이 정말 옳은지 스스로에게 질문을 던지는 행위이다. 정답을 따르지 않고도 생각할 수 있다는 사실, 그 자체가 개성의 시작이다. 개성은 특별함을 드러내는 것이 아니라, ‘왜 그래야 하는가’를 묻는 태도에서 비롯된다. 생각하고 의심할 수 있는 존재로서의 인간은, 정해진 길을 따르기보다 자신만의 길을 만들어갈 수 있다. 그것이 곧 자유의 증거이다.

We often live in a society where “correct answers” are assumed to exist — in education, work, relationships, even in matters of taste and beauty. People adjust themselves to fit within these prescribed standards. Yet, to think is to recognize the existence of such frameworks and to ask oneself whether they are truly right.
The ability to think without following the given answer — that alone marks the beginning of individuality. Individuality is not about being exceptional, but about adopting the attitude that asks, “Why must it be this way?” As beings capable of thought and doubt, humans can choose not to follow predetermined paths but to create their own. That, ultimately, is the evidence of freedom.
